Skin Wisdom: Acne

 

Acne is a complex skin disorder with a number of driving factors, but throughout my years in one on one practice, the thing I noticed that connected the dots between those who struggle with acne was a disconnect between their outer image (the way they present themselves to the world) and their inner image (the words they use to speak to and about themselves). This disconnect causes strife, because you’re constantly telling yourself that you’re not good enough, not worthy of things - yet you present with a strong facade outwards to the world.

We will be diving deep into the energetics of acne, as well as the physical aspects of it, and you will access the wisdom within yourself that you need to clear your skin and see real changes from within.

 

Skin barrier function, skincare & skin practices

We’ll start with the physical. What are you doing that could be harming your skin and causing more acne, and what can you start doing immediately that can bring about a sense of calm to your skin?

Over 2 weeks we will explore how the skin works, and what aggravates, causes and drives inflammation, and what essentially could be triggers of your acne in terms of skin treatments (both at home and in clinic) and skin care products.

Following this we will go through what are the opposite - skin treatments, skin care products and at-home skin practices you can incorporate immediately that will start to reduce your acne straight away.

Essential wisdom for anyone struggling with acne.

 

Skin food, essential skin nutrients, movement & the lymphatic system

Over the next 2 weeks, we will dive into food, and how this effects your skin. You’ll learn which foods to avoid if you struggle with acne and inflammation, and you’ll receive options that I like to call ‘skin swaps’. We will also undertake a week of enjoying yummy skin food together, so you can experience how easy and nourishing it is to fuel your skin with all the foods and nutrients it needs to thrive. This can be done at any point throughout the program if week 3/4 doesn’t suit you.

We will follow this with movement - an essential part of your Skin Wisdom toolkit. But did you know there are certain types of exercise that actually drive acne to worsen? We will look at what these are, practices to incorporate into your movement rituals to lessen acne, and also which movement styles are best if you’re trying to reduce acne.

Over the final 2 weeks of Skin Wisdom we will be learning how to access our own inner magic. Guided meditations, nourishing practices, self-massage, and the invitation to tune into your inner voice. This is going to be a reflective time where you will have the opportunity to really look at how your inner and outer images align (or not), and then bring them into alignment, so you can bring your most expressed, vibrant and beautiful version of yourself to the world!
